Week of December 12th...

Hello All Stars, Please note, the new gizmos assigned this week will be released on Wednesday.  The focus is to prepare for the Module D Summative assessment schedule for Wednesday or Thursday of your normal class sessions.  

Parents, Guardians, and Students: Tutoring will resume on Monday, 1.9.12. Ensure students have a math binders and are prepared to work, this is not a re-teaching session, but a session on challenges with specific concepts. Bring notes and questions. No IDK's, please. Please ensure you have transportation for your learner promptly at 3:00pm.

Students, please get your assignments done and submit them on time. This is particularly important for Compass Odyssey and the Gizmo assignments. We are doing better; however, there are a few students that are missing Exploration Guides and/or Assessment questions. Some are doing only half of the assignment, a few students are not doing them at all. The absent work in impact grades.

Ensure you are completing both, the Exploration Guide and Assessment questions by the due dates. Parents, Guardians, and Students, check to ensure you have completed the weekly assignments and are prepared to submit on Monday of each week.

Great job to those students submitting these assignments on time and early!

Students, Please note the change in the second quarter, "late work" will not be accepted. Ensure assignments are submitted by the due date, thank you.  Please do not fax, email, or leave late work in the main office.  

Intensive Math 6th Grade: (Team Time Group)

Topic: Proportions and Ratios using Agile Mind software, Compass Odyssey and Math Connects Text Books.

Period: 5B and 6B

Math Connects Course 2 (MJ2: Pre-Alg)

Topic: Introduction to Proportions and Similarity (Module D)

Review Scale Drawings and Similarity and Proportions (Chapter 4-2 and 4-3)

Identify Scale Drawing, Scale Modeling, and Scale Factor.

Module D Summative Assessment on 12.16.11, if absent assessment will be administered first day after class upon the student's return.  

Homework:

Mon: 1 Hour of Compass Odyssey and 1 Gizmo assignment due on 12.12.11. 

Wed: Complete Module D compass Odyssey assignment due 12.15.11 and Gizmo Assignment due upon return to school 1.3.12

Note: Compass Odyssey Module D completion is due on 12.15.11 (All folders must be completed by December 15, 2011.) Students that have completed this module, Well Done! Use your compass odyssey time to study and prepare for your summative assessment in Module D.

Period 1A, 3A, and 4B

Math Connects Course 1 (MJ1: Adv Math)

Topic: Ratio and Rates

Review Ratio Tables and Equivalent Ratios (Chapter 4-2 and 4-3A)

Identifying Ratio Tables, Equivalent Ratio and Scaling

Module D Summative assessment on 12.15.11, if student is absent the assessment will be administered on the first day after the student's return to class. 

Note: Complete Compass Odyssey Module D due by 12.15.11 (All folders must be completed 12.15.11)

Homework:

Tues: Study for Module D Summative on 12.15.11

Thur: 1 Hour of Compass Odyssey Module D and Gizmo assignments are due on 1.3.12, ensure Exploration Guides are completed and assessment questions are answered.  

Odyssey Note:

ALL students are assigned Module D for completion by December 15th. Compass Odyssey is an assignment and you will receive an assignment grade based on your progress in the learning path and completion of assignments. Remember, 1 hour each week is the minimum. If you have questions or challenges with the assignments, please inform me as soon as possible via email. You guys are great, thanks for being All Stars!

Several Students have NOT completed Module C, ensure Module C is completed before winter break, 12.15.11 to receive partial credit. Failing to complete the assignment will result in a failing grades for the assignment in the 2nd quarter.
